Ghaziabad police unearthed an illegal arms factory in rural Modinagar town of this district. Arrested has been identified as Abdul Rahman.

At a press conference on Monday, Senior Superintendent of Police Nitin Tiwari said that they received a tip-off from the owner of a factory, who was arrested last week, that an illegal arms factory was being operated in the same village.

Police raided the residence of Abdul Rahman, 43, who was running the illegal arms factory from the premises, and arrested him. A semi-finished country-made pistol with a silencer was recovered from him.

“I have never seen such a sophisticated country-made pistol equipped with a silencer. This implies that Rahman has links with hardened criminals,” Tiwari said.

Tiwari said Rahman used to sell pistols to the criminals for the last five years. He used to fetch the price of the pistol ranging from `800 to `1,200 per piece.
