Income Tax Employees Federation (Uttar Pradesh East) raised their serious concern over fixing of about Rs15 lakh crores as the target revenue collection by the Central Government for this fiscal, of which 56 per cent i.e. about Rs8 lakh crores are to be
collected by Income tax Department.
The Federation, which is already on warpath, threatened to go on strike against it and other issues on coming October 8.
Raising concern over the above target here in a Press conference on Thursday, general secretary of the ITEF (UP East), Jitendra Pratap Singh said that if one goes by the record of last three years, one would easily find that the above could not be achieved. He said that the targeted Direct Tax collection is even less than 8% of Indian GDP for the year 2014-15, at constant price, it must not be construed as insurmountable.
