Close on the heels of Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee “blocking” Jagdeep Dhankhar on the Twitter senior Trinamool Congress MP Saugato Roy on Tuesday claimed that he had requested Prime Minister NarendraModi to remove the State Governor.

In an unprecedented development Roy said that he had requested thePrime Minister to remove the Governor as he was creating hindrance inthe running of the Government.

“The Prime Minister was exchanging greetings with the MPs inParliament … when he came up to me I requested him to withdraw theGovernor as he is not allowing the Government to run smoothly and disturbing the Government,” Roy said.

The Prime Minister immediately came up with a witty reply asking Roy to first retire (from politics) before he could keep his request. “ThePrime Minister asked me to retire first before withdrawing the Governor,” Roy said.

“Apparently by asking to retire he meant he would then appoint me as the Governor ... but that part apart I have conveyed my party’s and my Government’s mood to him,” Roy said. Another TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhyay had made a similar request toPresident Ramnath Kovind on Monday during a conversation.
