Close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Thursday claimed that he only have hardly four or five invalid currency notes of Rs500 and Rs1,000 denominations which might have been kept somewhere in his residence. Talking to a local daily Rupani said that generally he preferred to do all financial dealings through banks but due to Diwali festivities his family required currency notes of Rs50 and Rs100 denominations for social purposes. Replying to a question about how many demonetised currency notes he had, Rupani said that he had not seen yet but there would be hardly four or five notes in his residence somewhere.
“People are suffering following the abrupt decision to demonetise currency notes, but the panic is short term and in the long run the nation would benefit immensely. Everything would be normalizing within fortnight,” said Gujarat CM, adding that people of this country have accepted the decision by standing peacefully in queues and they are co-operating for the sake of the nation.
Rupani further said that there was no need to be worry as new currency notes would come in adequate number in the market. According to him, PM Modi’s decision would not only bring out black money but fake currency which was used in anti-national activities would be completely excluded from economy.
