Widening its probe into the ISIS-linked module caught in Hyderabad, the National Investigation Agency on Wednesday raided a lodge in Anantapur.
The NIA team took the module chief Ibrahim Yazdani and another member of the group to Anantapur on Wednesday morning where the duo had gone earlier to take the delivery of ammunition.
The NIA team questioned the staff of Nandi lodge where they had stayed and seized the register. They also seized ID proofs of the two persons which they had given to the lodge staff.
NIA was trying to trace the people from whom the module had tried to procure the arms and ammunition in Anantapur.
This has come a day after the NIA teams had again raided three premises in Hyderabad, including the houses of the two suspects Ibrahim Yazdani and Habeeb, as well as an online centre run by a relative of Yazdani.
During the search at Habeeb Mohammed’s residence in a slum area of Hashamabad, the NIA seized 17 rounds of live ammunition of the semi-automatic 9 mm pistols. The pistols were seized during the first raid on June 30 when the NIA arrested the five members of the module. The teams also seized a computer and a scanner from the center where Ibrahim’s brother Ilyas was working. NIA sources said that he had used the computer and the scanner for sending a pledge to the ISIS handler. The NIA also seized another computer from Ibrahim’s residence which the agency believed he used for the communication with the handler.
NIA sources said that the raids were carried out on the basis of information gathered during the questioning of the five members.
Earlier the NIA had said that it had seized a laptop from Ibrahim’s residence but it turned out to be dysfunctional.
The NIA had taken Ibrahim to Nanded where the two members of the module had gone to procure weapons. NIA with the help of Maharashtra Police has also taken in to custody an alleged gun runner and he was being questioned.
During the questioning NIA has also learnt that the five had used name de guerre in their interaction with the handler based either in Iraq or Syria. While Ibrahim Yazdani, believed to be the head of the group had the name of Abu Abdul Rahman (father of Abdul Rahman).
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police has imposed a ban on the use of remote controlled drones, para gliders, and mico-light aircrafts in the city.
Commissioner said that the steps was taken as a precaution in view of the arrest of an ISIS linked module by the NIA.
Inputs from intelligence agencies have been received about the possibility of attacks by terrorists/anti social elements using drones, para gliders or Micro light aircrafts to disturb the peace and pose danger to human life.
The ban will be in effect from July 8 to August 7 and will also cover the drones used by the photographers and videographers during the big events.
