Even as the world was celebrating International Women’s Day and honouring women for their contribution to the family and the society, a woman in Hyderabad had to face the rough side of the life.

She was badly thrashed and left battered by her husband just because she had objected to his habit of surfing the Internet on his mobile till late into the night and watching obscene films.

“When I tried to switch off the router of wifi, he got angry and started beating me with a stick. When I tried to leave the home he continued to attack me and dragged me from the house to the car and later dumped me outside my mother’s home,” she told the police.

Punjagutta police in Hyderabad have filed a case of domestic violence against 30-year-old Omer Pasha on the complaint of the wife Reshma Sultana who was admitted to a private hospital with serious injuries.

Inspector of police Ravinder Kumar said after beating Reshma Sultana with a stick and biting her at many places Omer Pasha dumped the injured woman outside her parent’s house in Maqta area of Punjagutta in Hyderabad late on Wednesday night.

Reshma’s mother Shabana found her in a battered condition and immediately rushed her to Yashoda hospital and lodged a complaint with the police.

Shabana said that her daughter was facing harassment from husband for a long time and after she delivered a girl 8 months ago, Omer Pasha gave away the child to somebody without informing his wife.

This is second violent incident in the city involving the Internet usage. last week a father had chopped the right hand of his teenaged son when he refused to stop watching porn films on his mobile phone in the Old city.
