Hyd metro gets safety clearance

Published on:

line is finally clear for the Hyderabad Metro to start chugging as the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, South Central Zone has granted safety and other clearances to the 10 kms stretch from Mettuguda and Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar.

With this first phase of Hyderabad Metro will become functional from November 28 when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate it. Significantly the Hyderabad will be the first Indian city where Metro will start running on a 30 kms long route from the day one.

The safety certificate was issued by the CMRS to the l&T Hyderabad Metro Rail ltd, the developer and the operator of the project bringing cheers to the officials. Safety clearance was granted after a team of experts carried out inspections of the infrastructure, the elevated line, signaling and communication system and other aspects of the prestigious projects. The 20 kms strentch from Nagole to Mettuguda and from SR Nagar to Miyapur was already given the safety clearance last year and a trial run was also carried out.

This has put an end to speculations whether the inauguration of Metro by the Prime Minister will be symbolic or the Metro will start running next week.

An elated minister for municipal administration K Taraka Rama Rao celebrated the development on Twitter.

“Hapy to announce that Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety cleared 10 kms stretch from Mettuguda to SR Nagar. All statutory clearances in place now for Hyderabad Metro. All set for launch now”.
