The apparently elaborate search operation involving officials using a helicopter, small drones and elephant-patrol for spotting and tranquilising/killing a tigress declared ‘man-eater’ in the Ramnagar region has not been able to achieve its aim so far as the big cat has so far managed to remain elusive. The first human kill allegedly by this tigress was an old woman in Talla Gaujani village after which one more human fatality and injuries to at least two persons have been attributed to this tigress. If sources in the State forest department are to be believed, the tigress in question has dodged the authorities intending to kill her and has continued to remain mobile instead of staying long in one place, as deducted from pug marks believed to have been that of the tigress declared ‘man-eater’.
