For ‘Ferrari Dad’ Muhammad Nisham (38), who owns vehicles like Ferrari and Hummer SUV worth crores of rupees and luxury apartments in several cities in Kerala and other South Indian States, a prison cell cannot exactly be the cozy bedroom he would like to stay in.
However, the efforts of the controversial businessman, who was arrested on January 29 for trying to murder a security guard by ramming his Hummer into him, to avoid prison stay by feigning health problems failed on Tuesday following thorough medical examinations. Though he has faced several cases so far, this was the first time he was spending several days together in prison.
Nisham, who was sent to the sub-jail under judicial remand in Chavakkad, Thrissur district after his arrest in the case of attempting to murder security guard Chandrabose of Sobha City near Thrissur city, was admitted to the district hospital at Chavakkad after he complained of severe pain in the ear but examinations proved that he could be pretending to be unwell.
As the police tried to take him back to the sub-jail, he complained of severe back pain. Following this he was taken to the Medical College Hospital, Thrissur where doctors declared him perfectly healthy. Nisham was taken back to the Chavakkad sub-jail late Tuesday morning but he was reportedly shifted to the Central Prison, Thrissur in the evening.
Nisham was arrested on the morning of January 29 after he tried to murder the security guard of Sobha City apartment complex – where he was a resident – by beating him up and ramming his Hummer SUV into him for being late by some seconds to open the gates when he pulled up his vehicle outside at about 3.45 AM.
The security guard is still under treatment at the ICU of the private Amala Medical College Hospital near Thrissur. Nisham, managing director of Thirunalveli-based Kings Beedi Company and a supplier of tobacco to Indian and foreign companies, had got the nickname Ferrari Dad after he was booked for allowing his seven-year son to drive a Ferrari in April, 2013.
