Chief witnesses in the case pertaining to the murder of Chandrabose, a security guard of controversial Kerala businessman Muhammad Nisham, has revealed that the Highway Police who was present near the crime scene had refused to intervene to stop Nisham from beating up the guard and ramming his Hummer SUV into him.
The witnesses, fellow-security guards of Chandrabose at the posh Sobha City villa complex at Puzhakkal, Thrissur, also told newsmen that Nisham’s wife Amal, who went into hiding after her husband’s arrest, was with him when he attacked the guard but she had not tried to stop Nisham from what he was doing.
The disclosures by witnesses Anoop, security supervisor at Sobha City, and his colleagues Ranjan and Baby came a day before the process of recording witness statements in the case before a Magistrate as per Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code was to begin. The recording of witness statements is to start in Thrissur on Saturday.
The security guards said that they had pleaded with the Highway Police officers present on the Thrissur-Kunnamkulam State highway in front of the Sobha City gate to intervene when Nisham was attacking Chandrabose but they declined saying they could not do anything as there was no order from their superiors.
