Day of convocation turned out to be a day of big disappointment for the authorities of Hyderabad-based Moulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) as the President of India Pranab Mukherji failed to turn up at the event on Monday.
like the President, who was the chief guest, the other guests of honor including the State Governor ESl Narasimhan also did not attend the 6th Convocation of the National University. No official reason was given for the absence of the VVIPs. Officials of MANUU said the President could not attend as he was “very tired” following his Sunday’s hectic schedule.
It was left to the Chancellor Zafar Sureshwala to fill the vacancy and chair over the proceedings and present the honorary doctorate to two prominent personalities film star Shahrukh Khan and Urdu activist and founder of Rekhta Foundation Sanjiv Sarraf.
