The BJP on Thursday charged the Haryana Government with “speaking in two voices” and not submitting full details of the Vadra-DlF land deals to the Election Commission (EC), which has maintained that there was no violation of model code of conduct by the Bhupinder Hooda dispensation.
Addressing a Press conference, Union Minister for law and Justice Ravishankar Prasad alleged that not all facts were placed before the Commission by the Haryana Government.
He said the Principal Secretary of the State Government has written to the EC that clarification has been sought by it about the status of the land deal. Prasad said while one top official of the Haryana Government says status of the land deal or its mutation was still not clear, a junior official (Deputy Commissioner) of the same Government maintains that the sale deed was valid and complete as against Commissioner Ashok Khema declaring it as illegal.
He said the information furnished by the Hooda Government to EC does not include the letter of Deputy Commissioner (Gurgaon) and asked why the Government was hiding the facts and under whose pressureIJ
“Why Government is speaking in two voices about the ownership of the land, he asked wondering why the State Government did not appeal against Khema’s decision in high court.
Asked if elected to power if the BJP would institute a CBI inquiry into the Vadra-DlF land deal, the BJP leader said “law will be followed”. As about progress of the similar land deals connected with Vadra in Rajasthan, he said FIRs have already been registered.
He skirted queries whether CBI would take up Vadra-linked land deal cases in Rajasthan.
The EC has said that the Government of Haryana has clarified that no action has been taken on land deal issue after model code of conduct came into force on September 12, 2014. The EC maintained Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, has “informed telephonically that no action has been taken by his office in his regard after September 12”.
