An 18-year-old Dalit youth was killed while his lover was critically injured after both of them were brutally attacked by the girl’s family members in Shahjahenpur in the wee hours of Sunday.
The accused attacked the duo in the name of saving family honour. local police registered a case in this regard and were making efforts to nab the absconding family members. Baburam claimed that his son Rajneesh was in love with Pooja Yadav (name changed), a resident of the same area. He said that his son wanted to marry Pooja but the girl’s family members were against the marriage and had also threatened to kill his son if he did not leave the girl.
Baburam said that his son, on late Saturday night went to meet the girl after learning that she was locked inside a room by her family members. The matter took an ugly turn when Rajneesh jumped inside Pooja’s house and her family members caught the duo in compromising position in the wee hours of Sunday and brutally assaulted them. Both were taken to district hospital where Rajneesh was declared brought dead while Pooja is battling for her life.
