A woman and her husband were brutally thrashed to death in a suspected case of honour killing in Unnao on Monday night.
Reports said that Parag, a resident of Durgapur area of Chaurasi in Unnao was upset over the marriage of his daughter Rita (22) against his wish to 25-year-old Vinod. Parag, along with his associates attacked Rita and her husband and battered both to death.
Vinod’s mother Krishnawati, who tried to rescue the couple, was also seriously injured in the incident. Vinod died on the spot, Rita and Krishnawati were rushed to the nearby hospital, where the girl also succumbed to injuries. The condition of Krishnawati is also stated to be critical.
Rita had eloped with Vinod following which an FIR was registered on Parag’s complaint. The matter was also brought before a court three years ago. The court, taking cognisance of statements of both Rita and Vinod, ordered marriage against her father’s will.
