Gujarat Government has declared seven days holiday for schools and colleges during the biggest dance festival in the world —Navaratri. According to the State Government, the decision was taken considering long pending demands of the parents.
According to Gujarat’s Minister of State for Education, Vibhavariben Dave, Gujarat’s Garba festival during Navaratri got global recognition. Besides, the youngsters would be able to participate in the festivities freely as already holidays were declared by the State, said Dave.
Criticising the State Government’s decision, the Congress party said that instead of improving quality of education, the State Government is granting more holidays. Some of the organisations have also opposed announcement of holidays and requested Gujarat Governor OP Kohli and CM Rupani to revoke the decision.
