The CPI(M) on Monday urged all Opposition parties to jointly conduct all-India campaigns on important issues of national concern and joint protest against the BJP Government. The polit bureau issued a statement asking opposition parties to have State level coordination to corner BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha election.
“The CPI(M) proposed that the Opposition parties must jointly conduct all-India campaigns on important issues of national concern and joint protest actions on issues of rapidly deteriorating people’s livelihood.
“At the level of each state, discussions amongst the opposition parties must begin to minimise the advantage BJP gets from a division in opposition votes, in the coming 2024 general elections, said the PB statement, citing the CPI(M)’s proposal in the recent meeting of 17 Opposition parties in Patna.
“The CPI(M) underlined the need for cooperation among the Opposition parties to safeguard the secular democratic character of our Republic and the guarantees provided by our Constitution to the people on democratic rights and civil liberties and fundamental rights,” said CPI(M) after the two day long PB meeting.
CPI(M) also blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping silent on Manipur violence.
“The “double engine” BJP Government has totally failed in controlling the situation. PM Modi refused to even comment on the situation! The Home Minister’s visit on May 29, full 26 days after violence began, has had no effect on the law-and-order situation,” it said.
