Hit & run squad targeting BSF jawans to provoke strong Indian reaction

Published on:

Highly motivated members of the ‘hit and run’ squad possibly trained by the Pakistan Rangers are desperately trying to target BSF jawans deployed on forward posts along the International border across Jammu frontier.

In the last one week two back to back incidents have been reported where a group of heavily armed men came close to the International border and aimed at BSF jawans using automatic weapons.

Both these incidents were reported in the Samba sector. The members of the ‘hit and run’ squad managed to evade distant eye of long range cameras fitted atop observation posts  due to thickly vegetated terrain across the border and professional training.

It was sheer luck BSF men escaped unhurt on both these occasions. This is the new tactic deployed by the Pak rangers to target BSF patrols and sentry positions along the IB.

Senior BSF authorities on ground zero claimed they have been regularly spotting movement of armed men in the area and  possibly these men are targeting our forward posts to inflict maximum damages.

On Monday morning alert  BSF troops foiled another fierce stand-off attack on duty mound at  International Border from Pakistan side in  Samba sector of Jammu frontier.

According to BSF spokesman, “at about 8:45 a.m, a group of heavily armed terrorists reached close to International boundary in Pakistan side taking advantage of undulating ground.  Terrorists resorted to heavy fire on forward BSF troops deployed on duty mound from automatic weapons. “Alert BSF troops on duty points swiftly organized coordinated effective fire over them, not only to suppress their fire but forced them to retreat. Thus, alert BSF sentries foiled the ferocious stand-off attack from heavily armed terrorists from Pakistan by giving them a befitting reply” added BSF spokesman.

BSF troops very narrowly escaped during this fire. This fire was fully supported by heavy fire from Pakistan posts but same was responded in befitting manner. Earlier, senior BSF authorities  had claimed  small arms fire was reported around 8.45 a.m from Pak side in Samba sector. After a brief gap small arms firing and 51 mm mortars were fired towards the forward Indian posts from the Pak side around 9.35 a.m. BSF troops retaliated the fire suitably without suffering any losses, the senior BSF officer claimed.

Earlier, a similar attempt was made on February 2 when at least three under barrel grenades were lobbed by the highly trained infiltrators to target BSF men.
