Close on the heels of Shakshi Maharaj, a Bengal BJP leader has also called upon Hindu women to bear five children in order to maintain a demographic balance between rival communities.
Shyamal Goswami a lesser leader from Birbhum district told a meeting that the “Hindu mothers and sisters” that “if they do not have five children in future there will be no balance in India,” promptly leading the State BJP leadership to dissociate itself from the statement saying it was a remark made on personal capacity.
Reacting to the media posers, Dudhkumar Mondal, BJP district president from Birbhum, said, “We have cautioned him against making such remarks and he has understood it” adding “it was however his personal opinion and the party has nothing to do with it.”
When contacted Goswami said his views were his personal and had nothing to do with the party’s official lines adding he was only making a statement to prevent demographic imbalance.
