In context of cleanliness campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Bollywood actor-turned-politician, Paresh Rawal remarked that Hindu temples are dirtier than religious places of other faiths.

At a BJP workers meeting in Vavol village on the outskirts of the State capital Gandhinagar, the Ahmedabad East MP asserted that holy places of the Hindus are needed to made dirt free and cleaner. “I don’t intend to hurt anybody’s religious sentiments. However, the fact is that we are irresponsible as far as cleanliness is concerned,” he added.

“look at religions places of other religions, you will find churches and gurdwaras neat and clean. We need to understand that the place where we go to offer prayers to the almighty should be clean,” said the Bollywood star.

Praising PM Modi, Rawal said that because of Narendrabhai, the bad image of politicians have changed. He also said that Modi has also changed the attitude of bureaucrats. The MP also cleaned various areas in his constituency along with other BJP workers. People literally thronged to see him and take his autograph and as a result the traffic at Sardar Chawk area came to a standstill.
