The foot soldiers of the Indian Army deployed along the line of Control across frontier districts of Rajori and Poonch, have been alerted following fresh Intelligence reports of infiltration bids in the area.
The jawans deployed in the forward areas have also alerted their senior officers about the presence of militant commanders roaming freely in Pak army fatigue inside terrorist training camps.
Rough estimates suggested that over one dozen terror training camps are still active across the line of control towards the Pakistani side and hardened militant commanders have been awaiting right opportunity to push small group of militants to carry out fresh terror strikes in the region.
Intelligence reports have also revealed that some of the militant commanders recently visited both the frontier districts via Mughal road to activate their network of over ground workers (OGW's).The local police authorities are also keeping a close track on the movement of suspected OGW's to prevent any major terror strike.
Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of an army function organised to pay tributes to Brig Mohd Usman on the occasion of 68th Jhangar day in Nowshera lt-Gen RR Nimbhorkar, GOC of 16 Corps headquarters Monday claimed at least 200 heavily armed militants were waiting across the line of Control (loC) to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir.
“Exact details of the infiltrators cannot be said with surety but with our experience, having known their modus operandi and from inputs of various security agencies, we can put the figure at around 200 plus,” lt-Gen Nimbhorkar responded to the pointed queries.
He said the consolidation of militants at various launching pads was not a new phenomenon and they keep on trying to infiltrate into the Indian side. He,however, asserted the Indian army is fully geared up to thwart their nefarious designs.
“Terrorists come to the launch pads, try to infiltrate and get killed. Maybe very few manage to cross over but get killed in the second and third tier of the security grid,” he said, adding the security grid is intact to thwart the nefarious designs of the terrorists.
