An alert has been sounded in view of the 24th anniversary of the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya on Tuesday.
With Assembly elections also round the corner, political parties are keeping away from any function related to the Ayodhya demolition anniversary. While the Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) would be hold a simple programme at the Kar Sevek Puram here on Tuesday afternoon, some Muslim organisations will hold a peace dharna in Faizabad.
The disputed structure was demolished on December 6, 1992 while on September 30,2010, the Allahabad High Court had awarded two-third area of the disputed land to the Hindu petitioners. Presently, the case is pending before the Supreme Court. The Babri Masjid Action Committee (BMAC) will submit a memorandum to the Central and the State Governments on Tuesday for speedy hearing in the Ayodhya case pending in the Supreme Court.
However, in view of the anniversary, State police has issued a high alert in the State and the international borders with Nepal were being monitored rigorously.
Additional Director General of Police (law and Order) Daljeet Choudhury said here on Monday that directives have been issued to all the districts to maintain law and order at any cost and monitor all the functions to be held on the Ayodhya demolition anniversary. He said that special directives have also been given to the districts bordering the international borders with Nepal to keep a watch on the anti-national elements.
VHP spokesperson Sharad Sharma told media persons here on Monday that the sadhus and saints would assemble at the Kar Sevek Puram in Ayodhya on Tuesday afternoon where they will demand early construction of the Ram Temple. “The saints and sadhus could also send a memorandum to the Central Government about their demands,” he stated.
Meanwhile, BMAC will submit memoranda addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also on Tuesday for early hearing in the Ayodhya case. “The memorandums will be submitted by the BMAC office-bearers to the respective District Magistrates across the state. Addressed to the PM and CM, we will demand early hearing of all cases related to the demolition of the masjid so that the guilty are brought to book,“ said BMAC convener Zafaryab Jilani.
“Centre will be asked to move an application in Supreme Court for early hearing of appeals to decide land ownership of the site in Ayodhya,“ said Jilani, adding that the memorandum will also highlight to the Allahabad High Court which has directed the State for speedy disposal of the case, particularly the Rae Bareli case in which senior BJP leaders, including lK Advani, were accused of making inflammatory speeches. In the light of the liberhan Commission report, conspiracy charge—which was dropped by CBI in 2003—should be included against the accused, said Jilani.
With an appeal to maintain peace on the anniversary of the Babri Mosque demolition, Jilani said BMAC office-bearers and clerics will hold special prayers in masjids for early decision by court on the issue. “But all such events should be held peacefully and nothing should be done to disturb law and order, peace and communal amity in any manner,” he said.
BMAC has also rejected the demand of BJP MP Subramanian Swamy to make him a party in the Ayodhya dispute in the court.” We will vehemently oppose any such move by the BJP MP,” Jilani said.
