With the intense low pressure area prevailing over Vidarbha and adjoining areas, rain on Sunday continued to lash several parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Cyclone Warning Centre at Visakhapatanam has issued a warning of more rains in Andhra Pradesh with heavy to very heavy rainfall at couple of places over the next 48 hours and powerful winds along the coast.
Heavy rain in many districts across Telangana has thrown the normal life out of gear. With many rivulets — including Kadam and lakhanpur — overflowing many roads and bridges, thousands of people were stranded. The rain had stopped coal production in open cast mines in Bhadrakali-Kottagudem district and Bellampally and Mancherial belt for the last three days.
As Sky over Telangana and adjoining areas was covered with dark clouds and more rain were likely, the farmers were happy that their crops were saved in time. Heavy rain in the region as well as the neighbouring Chhattisgarh have brought heavy inflows and many reservoirs including Talliperu in Bhadrachalam were brimming with water.
However no loss of life was reported from anywhere in the State. The torrential rains across Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam have brought cheers to farmers. The farming community was worried over a long lull in monsoon.
However, Hyderabad where thick clouds dimmed the day light for the last few days there were no heavy rains and city had to be content with few spells of drizzle.
