People in Telangana reeling under the intense heat wave for the last few days got a much needed respite with powerful gale winds and heavy rains lashing several places including the state capital on Thursday evening.
Temperatures which were in the range of 42 to 45 degrees in many places for the last couple of days plummeted significantly in the city and other places.
Strong gales uprooted trees and the traffic was disrupted at Begumpet, Somajiguda and other places. The heavy rains also derailed the normal life and many areas in the city had plunged into darkness as the power supply remain disrupted. Officials said emergency teams of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation were already in the field to clear the tree and other obstructions.
