Heavy Pak shelling hits Naushera villages

Published on:

Tension mounted along the line of Control in Naushera sector late Thursday evening as Pakistan Army trained its guns to target the civilian areas.

Heavy shelling was going on in the forward areas of Kalsian, Bhawani, lam, Pukherni, Sher Makri, Kharli areas of Naushera till the time of filing the report.

It appears that after losing some of its soldiers in punitive strikes by the Indian Army in Bhimber Gali and Naushera sector, Pak Army is growing nervous to tackle the aggressive posturing by the Indian Army in the region.

In the last six days of continuous exchange of fire, Pakistan Army is believed to have suffered huge loss on ground zero.

Several forward posts acting as front line of Defence for small batches of infiltrators were demolished by the Indian Army using heavy calibre weapons.

Unconfirmed reports from Poonch claimed at least two Pakistani soldiers were killed in Bhimber Gali area in strong retaliatory action by the Indian Army on Wednesday.

Senior Army officers  based in Udhampur based Northern command headquarters and Defence PRO in Jammu lt Col Munish Mehta, however, feigned ignorance about the killing of Pakistan Army soldiers.

Meanwhile, following fresh escalation of tension the district administration in Rajouri came under the scanner.

Already over 2,500 villagers from forward areas have been camping in relief camps across Naushera sector for the last one month.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary told The Pioneer, “ Heavy mortar shelling was going in the forward areas of Naushera since Thursday evening.”

He said an estimated 2,500 villagers have been staying in relief camps. In response to a question on construction of bunkers, the Deputy Commissioner said the process to identify the locations where safe community bunkers can be constructed is going on and

by the month end the construction work would also begin to  ensure safety of border residents. The delay was caused beacuse of absence of funds, he added.
