Heavy Pak firing along loC worries Poonch residents

Published on:

Continuous exchange of heavy volume fire along the line of control (loC) has once again started bothering local residents of Poonch living in the direct line of fire of Pakistan guns.

For last three days Pakistan Army is regularly pounding forward civilian areas for long hours with a clear objective of hitting civilian targets.

According to Defence PRO lt-Col Munish Mehta, “ Pakistan army once again violated ceasefire agreement with India by initiating indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars at 9.05 a.m on forward Indian posts along the line of control  in Poonch sector”. He said the Indian army posts too retaliated strongly and effectively using similar calibre of weapons.

According to hi the firing lasted over 3 hours during the day.  After one JCO hailing from Manipur was martyred in an IED explosion in Digwar area of Poonch the area has been witnessing heavy exchange of fire on daily basis.

It is not yet clear whether Pak army has been trying to provide cover fire to  a group of infiltrators or doing the same to divert the attention of the Indian army jawans while planning any misadventure in another sector.

Though no major loss of life and property has been reported from ground zero but panic stricken residents have been forced by prevailing circumstances to once again prepare themselves for an alternate.

Almost every member of the family living in the forward area has been left stranded due to this fresh engagement by the armies of the two neighbouring countries.

The children, who were waiting to join new session/classes have been forced to stay put as firing start early in the morning and continue intermittently during day time.

The farmers and women folk who step out in their fields for attending to live stock and cultivation face numerous hardships as they remain stranded  without any safe  shelter away from safe confines of their homes. The Government agencies are also finding themselves in a catch 22 situation as tensions along the line of control are gradually building up.

As firing was going on and long range mortar shells were landing in civilian areas several local residents once again urged the political and military leadership of the country to plan a decisive action against the enemy country and liberate part of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir to silence their guns once and for all times to come.

Sharing their every day ordeal these residents in Poonch claimed,  “the Union govt should take a firm stand on dealing with Pakistan army as it has not been mending its ways and continue to export terrorism inside the Indian territory”.
