HC OK's Sena's Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park

In what is becoming a regular feature in recent years, the Bombay High Court on Friday granted permission to the Shiv Sena to hold its annual Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park at Dadar in north-central Mumbai on October 22 — on two major conditions that the party would have to adhere to noise pollution norms and that it would restore the ground to its original position after the event.

Holding that since it had allowed the Shiv Sena in the past to hold its Dussehra rallies at the Shivaji Park there was no reason for it to refuse permission to the political party this year as well, a HC Division Bench of Justices VM Kanade and Shalini Phansalkar-Joshi granted conditional clearance to the Sena to hold its Dussehra rally on October 22, at the Shivaji Park.  “We have allowed Shiv Sena to hold the rallies at the Shivaji Park in the past and there is no reason for us to refuse permission to the party to organise the rally this year,” the HC Bench noted.
