The Calcutta High Court has adjourned till Thursday the hearing of the defamation suit filed by Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
After hearing the petition the Court directed the advocate of the petitioner to re-register the case on certain technical issues. In an unprecedented development in the history of post Independence Bengal a Governor had filed a defamation suit against a Chief Minister. Bose had earlier sued Banerjee over her alleged comments against him.
In an apparent reference to the "inordinate delay" being made by the Raj Bhavan in organising the oath-taking formalities of two newly elected TMC MLAs, Banerjee had reportedly said that she had been told by some women leaders that they were afraid of going to the Governor's House because of some activities taking place there.Bose had immediately retorted saying that such statements should not have come from a Chief Minister.
