Hate speech FIR for BJP but khoon maaf for TMC!

In a bizarre game of political bais, the police on Friday lodged an FIR against Birbhum BJP district president Dudhkumar Mandal for giving a hate speech earlier while registering none against Trinamool Congress district president Anubrata Mandal who not only openly asked his men to torch Opposition houses and bomb police vehicles but also was named in a murder case.

The FIR was lodged against Mandal at Rampurhat police station for threatening to cut off the Trinamool workers’ hands. Mandal, however, later apologised for his “heat of the moment statement” to the State party leadership and also in front of the camera. He said, “I should not have said so. It was a statement that came in the heat of the moment as we were quite disturbed by the regular reports of our workers being beaten, harassed, persecuted and killed by the Trinamool men.”

State party president Rahul Sinha, who had earlier show-caused him said, “we have cautioned him after he apologised to us.” Rampurhat SDPO Koteshwar Rao later told the media that an FIR had been lodged against Mandal by Rampurhat municipality chairman Ashwini Tewari. Curiously in a differential treatment for various political parties the police did nothing against the Trinamool district president Anubrata Mandal despite similar charges were brought against him.

He also had threatened the CPI(M) workers of chopping their hands off and told journalists that they should watch out because they could be killed in road accidents. Currently an appeal was pending with the Supreme Court seeking CBI investigation against him in the infamous Parui murder case in which BJP leader Hriday Ghosh’s father Sagar Ghosh was shot dead allegedly at the instance of Anubrata Mandal.

SIT lead by the State DGP reportedly let Mandal go without recording his statements or that of the prime witnesses.
