Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Monday urged the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to make necessary amendments in Wakf Act and lease Rules.
The Chief Minister also put forth various demands for the welfare of Minority Community in a meeting held with the Union Minister in New Delhi.
Manohar lal urged the Union Minister that the amendments made after the year 2014 in Wakf Act and lease Rules has rendered its various rules illogical and unjustifiable due to which lease holders of Wakf Properties are facing many difficulties.
The representatives of various lease holders have requested for re-amendments in these rules and the concerned Ministry was earlier apprised about these demands of the leaseholders, said he.
The Chief Minister apprised the Union Minister that amendment was mandatory in the Wakf lease Rules No. 7, 18 and 19. Under rule no 7, the Right to fix the Minimum lease Rate should rest with the Wakf Board. Under rule no. 18, the renewal of lease should be done without bid. Similarly, under rule no 19, for shops, cold storages and other commercial activities, the maximum limit of lease should be increased from five years to 30 years, he added.
Manohar lal said that after the amendments made in the year 2014, under rule no. 7, the Right of the lease was given to the Union Ministry whereas the work regarding renewal was being carried out under Bidding System. The leaseholders are facing a lot of difficulty with such a complexity in the procedure.
