Hardik Patel to walk out of jail today

The 23-year-old pro-quota leader and convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), Hardik Patel will come out of the jail on Friday, following bails in all cases against him by Gujarat High Court over the last two weeks.

As per the court’s order, Patel can only spend a couple of days in Gujarat and after that he will have to stay away from Gujarat for the next six months. However, Hardik’s supporters are sure to utilise his couple of days’ stay in Gujarat and make his release from jail that too after nine long months memorable by organising a plethora of events.

Already posters have popped up in the Patidar-dominated areas of Surat and parts of Saurashtra region to ensure a hero’s welcome to the PAAS convener. Spokesperson of PAAS Brijesh Patel said that Hardik would travel over 2,000 km in 48 hours after he would be released from lajpore Jail in Surat.

“Hardik will address 12 public meetings and stage seven roadshows apart from two mega-rallies in the State on Friday and Saturday. For the purpose he would travel over 2,100 km within Gujarat and is expected to meet 1.5 million people. He will travel from Surat to Rajkot, Botad and Viramgam,” he informed.

If sources in the PAAS are to be believed, flowers would be showered from a helicopter as Hardik enters his hometown Viramgam in Ahmedabad district. He has been given permission to visit Viramgam to collect his belongings before he leaves Gujarat. He will also visit Ahmedabad on Saturday in order to submit a fresh affidavit as per the direction of Gujarat High Court.

Hardik’s parents and his fiancee will go to lajpore Jail in Surat to receive him on Friday morning. A procession has also been planned to cheer his release after the PAAS leader would be welcomed by girls from the Patidar community.

It is worth mentioning that for the public rallies and procession, PAAS workers and Hardik’s supporters will have to take permission from the concerned authorities. On this a PAAS leader Dinesh Bhamania said that they are in the process to get permissions from the authorities and the administration would respect the feelings of the community.

On the other hand state administration is keeping close eye on all the activities of pro-quota Patidar leaders to avoid any untoward incident. Senior Gujarat Minister Nitin Patel said that the state government had withdrawn cases and facilitated bail within the frame of law not it is the responsibility of everyone to keep restrain and respect the law.
