The 24-year-old convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), Hardik Patel, along with his nine associates, was detained by the Gujarat Police in Ahmedabad on Thursday for staging protest outside the premise of a religious trust.
PAAS is demanding reservation for Patidar youth in Government jobs and educational institutions under OBC category. Hardik was seeking to hold Press conference over issue of attack on his close aide Dinesh Bambhania on Umiyadham Trust premise. As the trustees rejected his proposal and denied entry inside the premise, he decided to stage protest there.
The employees and trustees of the religious body trust locked the premise and vanished before Hardik could arrive with his supporters to hold his meet. The police too was seen in good numbers to maintain order and prevent him from entering the premises.
Hardik claimed that Dinesh was attacked by BJP workers in Ahmedabad on late Wednesday night with weapons.
