The Centre on Monday decided that haj-houses be "handed over" to respective State Governments as "temporary corona centres."
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi directed haj-committees and their "executive officers" that they convert haj-houses in 16 States as "temporary Corona Care Centres" and accord all possible help to State Governments.
In view of the steep rise in corona cases across states, Naqvi reviewed the situation and the status of haj- Buildings and decided to "temporarily" hand over them to the respective states.
He said the haj-houses which are "located independently in isolated buildings" can be used to ease out the pandemic situation in the country.
