Guv returns lokayukta's unformatted reply

Governor Ram Naik reportedly sent back the reply of lokayukta Justice (Retd) NK Mehrotra with directions that the query be sent as per the format drafted by the Raj Bhawan.

“We have sent back the report sent by the lokayukta regarding the data of about last five years sought by the Governor as it was not provided as per the format,” confirmed a Raj Bhawan source on Wednesday afternoon. Mehrotra has been asked to restructure the report and submit it to the Raj Bhawan by January 15.

When contacted, the lokayukta confirmed receiving a reply from the Raj Bhawan as it was not in the proper format. However, he claimed that he followed the directions while replying to the query. He however added that he would again apprise the Governor on the said format and sort out the further query.

Earlier, the lokayukta’s report submitted to Governor highlighted that no one was either held guilty or was given clean chit from him in about five dozen cases probed. He also mentioned that he mostly advised the official concerned to suspend the suspect to ensure free and fair enquiry.

The report came after the Governor wrote to the lokayukta on December 22 seeking detailed report (on four different formats between January 1, 2010 till December 28, 2015) regarding action recommended or enquiry pending with him in connection to ministers, former ministers, MlAs/ MlCs, bureaucrats and public servants etc.
