In a fresh development Gorkha Janmukti Morcha president Bimal Gurung was on Wednesday elected as the Chief Executive Officer of the Gorkhaland Territorial Authority.
He had resigned the post early this year before launching a massive movement for a separate Gorkhaland State after the Centre decided to create a new Telangana State.
The agitation and continued bandhs brought the Mamata Banerjee-led State Government and the GJM face to face leading to a hundreds of arrests.
However the Chief Minister’s hard posture brought Gurung finally on the talking table even as he met Banerjee last week at the new Secretariat building at Nabanna.
