Following a complaint regarding gunshots heard at a Naval base in coastal Porbandar town, Gujarat police and marine police came into action, but after the investigation it turned out to be a hoax.

The security agencies conducted thorough search in and around Porbandar naval area, said official sources, adding that but nothing objectionable found.

According to Porbandar DSP Tarun Duggal, the police received a complaint on Friday morning from one of the guards at the communication room of the naval base informing that he heard gun shots. Subsequently the police carried out intensive search operation for almost two hand half hours but ultimately the cops come to the conclusion that the alarm raised by the complainant was hoax, said the DSP.

It is worth mentioning that in the infamous 26/11 attacks on India’s commercial capital Mumbai terrorists used hijacked Porbandar boat to enter inside the Maharashtra capital and created havoc

there.

Since Friday morning following the complaint, panic was created in the coastal town Porbandar which has already been put under high alert after Indian Army’s surgical strike in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. As the time went, rumour of explosion at Porbandar naval based started making rounds. However, only after the search operation police through local media denied any explosion in the area.

The 1,600 km long coastline of Gujarat is already under tight surveillance following alert issued by the Intelligence Bureau over 10-15 terror suspects left Pakistan coast and might have crossed Indian border in two boats. The security forces are not taking any chance as in the past 10 days as many as two Pakistani boats along with 18 people aboard were apprehended off Gujarat coast in Indian waters. Porbandar is near to two important religious places Somnath and Dwarka situated on the shores of Arabian Sea where vigil have been augmented.
