In order to give chance to all the Class-1 officers in the State Government, Gujarat Cabinet has passed a resolution to introduce special test for Class-1 officers having minimum eight years of service to apply directly for nomination in Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre.
Talking to reporters, Gujarat Government spokesman and Cabinet Minister Nitin Patel claimed that the incentive is the first-of-its-kind in the country, to allow promotion of younger and able officers through transparent method.
The process is to let Class-1 officers, other than Gujarat Administrative Service (GAS), apply to General Administrative Department (GAD) for appointment through Selection Quota, against posts falling vacant for promotion to IAS.
