With State Assembly polls due in the second half of year 2017, Gujarat Government on Wednesday announced to increase salaries of fix salaried employees as per seventh pay commission.
The decision of Gujarat Government came as the New Year Gift for 1,18,738 employees as they would get salary rise ranging from 63 to 124 per cent effective from February 1, 2017. It would increase additional burden of `1,372 crore on State Government treasury.
“In a Cabinet meeting of the State Government, it was decided to consider demands of employees’ unions and increase salaries of fixed salaried employees. The Government has started employing on fixed pay basis from 2006. We have decided to consider services of such employees right from their appointment date so that they would get benefits of promotions and other perks,” said Deputy CMNitin Patel.
