Gujarat fishermen advised not to venture out into sea alone

In wake of the Intelligence report related to entry of terrorists through sea route, the marine police and the special operations group of Gujarat police have advised fishermen operating in coastal towns and villages not to venture out into the Arabian Sea alone and move in groups while on fishing expedition.

The advisory to fishing boats from the State police was issued following the reports some terrorists have managed to infiltrate into the coastal area through the sea route as also in view of the increasing incidence of capture of Indian fishing boats by Pakistan’s Marine Security Agency in recent months.

National Fish Workers’ Forum secretary Manish lodhari said that there are over 15,000 fishing boats which operate along the 1,600 km long coastline of Gujarat. Pakistan Marine Security Agency has captured hundreds of Indian fishing boats from Arabian Sea in the last five months and taken fishermen as prisoners.
