Gujarat Finance Minister to present State Budget today

Published on:

Gujarat’s Finance Minister Saurabh Patel will present State budget for the year 2016-17 on Tuesday.

Unlike previous budget that was focused on women empowerment, the upcoming budget is expected to woo every class of society in view of assembly elections due in the next year.

Gujarat’s first Chief Minister termed it as Gender Budget with more than 500 different schemes for the women. It would be interesting to see what kind of budget the Anandiben Patel Government will present in the backdrop of on-going

agitation of Patels

who are demanding reservation in Government jobs and educational institutions under OBC category.

Meanwhile, the budget session of Gujarat Assembly began on a stormy note on Monday as the Opposition party MlAs rushed to the well of the House during the opening speech of Governor OP Kohli and shouted slogan against the Anandiben Patel Government.

As the Government

started his speech Congress MlAs stood up from their seats and started shouting slogans and showed placards in the House demanding resignation of Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on the issue of on-going pro-quota agitation of Patidars.

The Opposition took up the issues pertaining to highhandedness of police on Patidar youth and alleged land scam of the business

partner of Anandiben’s daughter Anar Patel. Due to the chaotic situation the government decided to discontinue his speech after 20 minutes and left the House.
