launching a blistering attack on the UPA Government at Centre for being ineffective in utilising the Budget allocated for skill development, NDA’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Monday said that while China was keen on assigning its manpower for jobs across the world, as a youthful nation India needed to do a lot to capture global job market.
Speaking at the launch of new schemes of the Commissionerate of Employment and Training in Gandhinagar, Modi said that unlike the Union Government, his Government had trained thousands of youth in a short span of few years.
“China has taken a big step to capture the job market of the world. In India we require to train the youth with the right skills and guide them in the right direction, so as to enable them seek job opportunities across the globe. Our nation is youthful. We have talented youngsters, and we need to focus on them. We cannot leave the youth to their fate,” said Gujarat Chief Minister.
In fact the Gujarat Government thought about how to address the issue, he said, adding, “The initiation of Skill Development Centres (SDC) was a revolutionary step in this direction, and the additional launch of 165 SDC on this occasion, took the network in Gujarat to over 500. Now, every person in Gujarat villages will have an SDC in a radius of 15 km.”
He further stated that the Gujarat Government was focused at addressing the job market by delivering required manpower and talent pool through its innumerable youth-focused initiatives. Modi also called for the need to address this disconnect between the industry requirements and available manpower, even as he emphasised on having a vision for grooming the required manpower for the coming decade by providing them with required resources.
During the function, Modi also launched various schemes of the Employment and Training department, including skill certification, e-skilling, overseas employment and career information centres and the Kaushalya Rath.
