Addressing a convocation ceremony, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel advised students pursuing higher studies to combine scholarships with nationalism and social responsibilities.

“The degree holders stepping out of the campus into the open world would face many challenges. Despite the fact, they should convert the challenges into the development of the nation with their self-development. It is their duty towards family and society to help the needy students aspiring for higher studies,” said the Gujarat Chief Minister while addressing students at the 4th convocation of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) in Gandhinagar.

Patel said that the students of a petroleum university have the additional duty of disseminating the latest advancements in the industry through digital revolution. She asked them to be particularly alive to the challenges arising out of climate change on food, health and environment. She acknowledged the initiative of PDPU to include climate scope for research in its syllabus.

She further said that fossil fuels provided 80 per cent of the world’s energy needs and its consumption is estimated to rise 33 per cent in 25 years. The Chief Minister handed over medals and degrees to the final batch students in presence of PDPU president Mukesh Ambani.
