Taking the incident of attack on cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Riva seriously, the Home Department of Gujarat Government has issued an advisory for cops on dealing with females.

Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja said that behavior of the policemen, especially with women would decide overall reputation of police department as well as the Government. In case of non-adherence of the advisory, the senior officials will have power to take all possible action against the errant cops.

As per the advisory the cops have been asked to behave cordially with women. The cops are supposed to take steps to ensure security of females. Forget physical attack, but they are not supposed to defame women.

Meanwhile, the police constable Sanjay Krangia who had attacked Riva was released on bail. However, his suspension would continue and he will have to face departmental inquiry too.

The incident occurred on Monday late in the evening near Saru Section area of Jamnagar when Riva’s car slightly touched the constable identified as Sanjay Karanjia’s bike. Interestingly the constable was riding his motorcycle on the wrong side! Angry with the damage to his bike, the constable stopped Riva’s car and instantly started assaulting her.

An FIR has been filed against the errant cop and suspended. Within an hour he was arrested by the police,” he said adding that a case under IPC sections 279, 323, 324 and 504 has been registered against the constable.
