After unfurling Tricolour at the State-level Independence Day function in Gujarat’s cultural capital Vadodara, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani announced to set up at least 10 new industrial estates in the State for small scale units.

The Chief Minister also announced to give financial aid to fishermen as well a facility of free Wi-Fi at educational campuses across the State. The new industrial estates announced by Rupani will be developed by Gujarat State Development Corporation (GIDC). He claimed that the industrial estates would be model for other States also.

According to him, the scheme of providing diesel at Rs 25 per litre would be extended to small fishermen for their fishing boats. Rupani said that Rs 2 lakh immediate financial assistance will be given to families of those fishermen who are missing. ‘‘The kin of such fishermen will not have to wait for seven long years for the financial assistance,’’ he said. The amount will be given from the Chief Minister’s relief fund, he added.

In order to make students studying in the State truly global and connect them with the world, the Government is working to make all the colleges across Gujarat Wi-Fi enable, said Rupani, adding that his Government’s initiative to put a limit on fees for the private schools would be beneficial for the students coming from middle class families.

Appreciating his mentor  Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work as Gujarat CM, Rupani said that Modi set a benchmark by taking Gujarat to a new height. ‘‘His extraordinary work is worth imitating for other states also,’’ he added.

He hailed Modi’s initiative as CM of Gujarat to hold the State-level I-Day functions at different places as part of his policy of decentralisation instead of State capital Gandhinagar.

Extending his Independence Day and Janmashtami greetings to the people of the State, he recalled the role of erstwhile Prince Sayajirao of Vadodara, especially the India House as the meeting place abroad.
