The Gujarat Police have recovered maps of famous Dwarkadhish temple in the State from a 40-year-old woman who was roaming in the proximity of the coastal temple.
After monitoring suspicious movement of Umme Kulsum, a resident of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, the police detained her and during the investigation found maps and other things which were objectionable.
“The woman was found loitering around Okha railway station, the last railway station to the Dwarka temple, carrying several diaries with sketches of many of the sensitive areas in Gujarat and other parts of the country,” said a senior police official interrogating her.
During interrogation, the suspect couldn’t satisfy the inquiry of police officials especially what she was doing in Dwarka region and why she was having sketches of sensitive places of the State. The police also recovered Aadhaar card having her photographed. As per the Aadhaar card her name read as Umme Kulsum. However, police is in the process to know that whether the Aadhaar card they recovered is fake or real.
The suspected woman told the police that she had been moving round the country for the last three months or so and had developed the habit of drawing sketches of the areas she visited. These included even small culverts or railway tracks and other details which hardly interested a common person. The State Police was cross-checking with the UP police about the details of the woman in view of the high alert issued by the intelligence agencies describing Dwarka temple as one of the most sensitive spots to be on the target of the terrorists.
A strong security cordon was thrown around the famous temple and in the small coastal town following intelligence inputs that the terrorists from Pakistan could use the sea route to Dwarka to attack the famous temple. A contingent of the state reserve police was also dispatched from Gandhinagar to Dwarka for further intensifying the security in the temple town situated on the coastline.
The official sources said besides keeping a close watch on fishing boats going out or coming in to ports in and around Dwarka, the police have also launched a door-to-door search of the local residences to ensure that no outsiders were hiding behind the local populace.
Following the intelligence inputs that around 15 terrorist might have entered Gujarat from neighboring Pakistan with a view to carry out subversive activities, the Gujarat police have tightened security at important places that may be targeted by the terrorists including Dwarkadhish temple.
