Guj Min for legal action against prime accused in recruitment scam

Senior Gujarat Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama has threatened to take legal action against prime accused of multi-crore recruitment scam — Kalyansinh Champavat who has created a controversy by alleging that Chudasama too was involved in the scam.

Champavat is the owner of a private coaching class and has been arrested by police for allegedly duping aspirants of Government jobs by giving them false promises and collecting crores of rupees for Patwari’s (Talati) job in State revenue department. A couple of years back police had raided his coaching classes in the State capital Gandhinagar and recovered `1.43 crore cash, more than 70 call-letters and other objectionable material.  Subsequently he was arrested in February 2014 and sent to jail.   Currently he is out on bail.

Recently he gave new angle in the multi-crore recruitment scam by taking the senior Minister’s name as one of the conspirators. Champavat claimed that he was wrongly framed in the scam by the State Education Minister Chudasama as he denied giving donation in BJP’s party fund.

On the Champavat’s accusation, the Minister issued a written statement saying that in order to prove himself innocent Champavat is making baseless allegations against me (Chudasama). “If he does not withdraw these allegations in 10 days, I will file a defamation case against him,” said the Minister.

Minister Chudasama further said that his 45-year of public life has been spotless and the allegations made by Champavat were far from truth. He further said that Champavat was trying to malign his political and social image at the behest of some people but he would not tolerate it and take legal action against him if necessary.

Talking to local reporters Champavat claimed that police were not able to provide substantial evidence in the court to prove that he was involved in the scam.

Champavat also claimed that around 50,000 recruitments done by State Government for various departments during last 15 years were engineered and jobs were given only after taking money. His allegations gave opportunity to BJP’s rival political parties Congress and AAP to corner Anandiben Patel Government in Gujarat.
