Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday increased the quantum of compensation for loss of clothes and other household goods in the heavy rain and flood in the north Gujarat region.
The Chief Minister announced to increase the compensation for household goods from Rs 3,800 to Rs 7, 000 and that for milking cattle from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per cattle, revising up the maximum number from three milking cattle to five. After aerial survey of the flood-hit north Gujarat region following heavy rains, CM Rupani had decided to camp amidst the flood-hit, particularly in Banaskantha and Patan districts, for five days to speed up relief work. With rescue work almost over in the recent floods, he visited worse hit Nanapura and Badarpura villages in Radhanpur Taluka in Patan district today, and assured them that cash doles and household goods would be distributed to them without discrimination by tomorrow.
He is personally taking rounds of the most affected villages, taking stock of the situation, hearing the villagers’ problems and directing the administration to promptly restore electricity, repair roads and resume State Transport bus service on a war-footing. He consoled the villagers for losing their household goods washed away in the heavy rains, as it happened too soon at the dead of the night. He complimented the villagers for helping one another in the hours of their crisis till the rescue and relief teams arrived.
The Chief Minister directed the administration to survey the loss of cattle, kuccha houses, and damage to crops and assured the affected people of compensation. He visited the medical camps and enquired if there were enough stock of fodder. He held talks with the officers of the 17th Madras Platoon to ensure no stone remained unturned in providing relief to the affected.
