Gujarat Finance Minister Saurabh Patel will present Budget for the financial year 2014-15 on Tuesday. A month-long Budget Session commencing from Tuesday will end on July 30.
It would be the first Budget of the Anandiben Patel Government. As the earlier Narendra Modi Government passed ‘Vote on Account’ for four months — April to July 2014 in February this year in the wake of the lok Sabha polls, the Finance Minister will present the Budget for eight months — August 2014 to March 2015.
Sources in the State Government said the Budget is expected to be focused on rural development and women empowerment. Ahead of the Budget Session, the Chief Minister had declared 100-day agenda for her Government in which emphasis was given on women empowerment. In this context, plethora of women related schemes are being expected in the Budget. Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress is also gearing up to attack the ruling party on the issues of inflation.
