The coalition government of JDs and the Congress in Karnataka is shaky and differences between partners are growing day by day. After chief minister HD Kumraswamy’s angry statement that he was ready to step down as the chief minister, his father and JDs supremo HD Devgowda has said enough is enough for congress leaders constantly taking potshots at Kumaraswamy. He slammed the congress leaders for attacking chief minister Kumaraswamy and said he can’t be silent on the matter anymore.
Gowda said he has suffered much pain in the last six months when the government was formed in a post-poll alliance. “I am in pain. Six months have completed since Kumaraswamy became Chief Minister. All kinds of things have happened in these six months, till now I have not opened my mouth but I can’t keep quiet now.” “Is this any way to run a coalition government, where every day you have to request your coalition partner to not make un-parliamentary remarks,” Gowda added.
This incident is an indication of widening cracks in Karnataka’s coalition government and Deve Gowda condemned the increasing frequency with which Congress legislators were taking potshots at his son -- Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
The warnings issued by Gowda and his son are seen as a reaction to Congress legislator ST Somasekhar’s recent remark that Karnataka would have witnessed “real development” if former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had received another term. His party colleague, C Puttarangashetty, went a step further by saying that Siddaramaiah is the only Chief Minister in his book.
