Desperate to muster support for its Food Security Bill, the Government on Wednesday reached out to the JD(U). Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath telephoned JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav seeking his support for the smooth conduct of proceedings in the Parliament.
JD(U) MPs had created an uproar in Parliament on Tuesday over negligence of the Railways, which led to the death of nearly three dozen pilgrims in Khagaria district of Bihar. Following disruption on this and several other issues, the Food Bill could not be taken up for discussion on Tuesday.
Yadav, however, blamed the Congress and BJP for the Parliament impasse. “Parliament is not running because of Congress and BJP. Other parties raised their issues for a while but they do not want to block the functioning of Parliament. The two national parties are not serious to run the House. Instead of meeting everybody else, what is really required is that the two parties sit together and resolve the issue,” Yadav told reporters.
