Govt assures impartial probe into attack on African students

The Government on Friday  assured an ‘impartial probe’  into ‘the unfortunate incidents’  of attacks on African students in Greater Noida and said that foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj would make a statement on the issue in the lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Raising the issue in the House, Rajeev Satav (Congress) said about 450 Africans live in Noida and Greater Noida and asked the Government to take a serious note of incidents of beating  of Nigerians.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar described the events as ‘unfortunate’ and  assured the House of an impartial probe in the matter. Kumar said Swaraj has spoken to Uttar Pradesh  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the issue.

“The whole House shares the concern of the member (Satav). Two incidents have happened and they are unfortunate. Sushma Swaraj has spoken to UP CM. Action has already been taken. Inquiry will be impartial. When the House meets next on April 5, she will give a statement,” Kumar said.
